Personality & Traits

History

Personal History 2353: Aran Zahne is born on board Deep Space Five.
Aran’s sister Elesa becomes joined to the Zal symbiont. Aran dislikes Elesa’s change in personality, however subtle, and finds it difficult to talk to his sister. This begins Aran’s dislike of symbiosis, feelings that will result in the death of a symbiont years later.
Aran joins Starfleet Academy. It is here that he befriends Andrew Becker and Ezri Tigan who would become two of his closest friends. Aran trains within the ‘sciences’ division alongside Andrew Becker.
Aran is posted on board the USS Akira for his Internship.
Aran graduates from Starfleet Academy and is posted to the USS Akira as a science officer. Later in 2375 Aran is promoted to Lieutenant (JG) and accepts a temporary reassignment to the USS Odyssey. Coincidently, Andrew Becker was the Chief Science Officer on board the Odyssey.
After Becker’s apparent defection to the terrorist organisation known only as the ‘Underground’, Aran assumes a temporary promotion to Chief Science Officer on board the USS Redemption. When Becker is assumed dead following a battle with the Underground, Aran assumes permanent command of the Science Department.
When Becker is found alive and well Aran struggles with his feelings. These feelings are compounded when a brainwashed Becker attacks and kills several members of the Odyssey crew. Their friendship breaks down and Zahne considers leaving the Odyssey when Becker is treated and reinstated as Chief Science Officer. Zahne’s problems escalate when a shuttle he is on board crash lands on a planet; a Trill member of the crew, Jadia Rahne, dies and her symbiont is critically injured during the landing. The symbiont’s only chance of survival is through joining with Zahne, but he refuses to be joined and allows it to die. Once rescued, the Trill Initiate Programme learns of Zahne’s actions and calls him to Trill. He leaves the Odyssey and Starfleet.
-2380: Zahne becomes a guardian on the Trill home world as a self-imposed punishment for allowing the death of a symbiont. He re-evaluates many aspects of his life and career during this time. He makes amends with his sister, Elesa, and also makes contact with Andrew Becker on board the Odyssey. Zahne applies to Starfleet Medical to re-enter active service and re-train as a medical officer.
-2384: Zahne trains as a medical officer at Starfleet Medical.
-2386: Zahne returns to active Starfleet duty on board the USS Fitzgerald as a medical officer.
Zahne is promoted to Lieutenant and is made Chief Medical Officer on board the USS Fitzgerald.
Zahne is approached by Andrew Becker to join him at the Ee Research Institute on Earth as its new lead xenobiologist. With their past behind them, Zahne accepts the offer to work with Becker again.
Following the discovery of the Ee Hybrid, Lieutenant Commander Becker puts together a team to track and capture it before it can return to the Ee. He enlists Aran as his Chief Medical Officer on the off-world team.
Becker and Zahne’s team is ambushed by the Ee-Hybrid, aka Ensign Sarah Kaminski. All the members of their team are killed by the hybrid, except for Becker and Zahne themselves. It is not long after this that Becker and Zahne meet Lieutenant Commander Rhyan who is also in pursuit of the hybrid. They combine their efforts with Rhyan’s sister Reanna onboard the Romulan Scout Vessel Esemar to track Sarah Kaminski and prevent her from finding the lost USS Redemption and its transwarp drive.
