History

Personal History Born and raised aboard the Paramount, he has not spent a lot of time planet-side. He was often without supervision, he was active in school, helping his teachers and mostly avoiding trouble. When his sister came into the picture, he did his best to see that she always had company when he could, even when it put him out. Eventually, he learned to give her the space that she needed to grow as an individual as he approached the age where he was preparing for college and the academy.

Berkely University was a new experience for him. Not only was it his first opportunity to be planet side for any real length of time, but it exposed him to more freedom, both of thought and activity than ever before. In the end, it was his human grandmother who kept him straight and focused on his studies. He managed to pass his exams well enough to stay on for his masters and doctorate, even with the extra courses he was taking with ROTC.

He then had the option of staying groundbound and settling there on earth, but a messy breakup in the last year of school made him realize he missed the discipline and structure of living aboard a ship, he applied for the academy and was quickly accepted.

Star Fleet Academy was much different than Berkely, the academic pressures were similar, but there was less freedom and more structure because of dorm living. There is a difference between military life and that of a civilian, and the adjustment from Berkley to the academy took a little time, but then he had lived aboard a ship and so was forewarned by his experiences. Everyone was adjusting at the time, all of his class being first year cadets, from planats across the quadrant, from different backgrounds and upbringings. His personality won him a few friends and a few enemies. People left and soon they were able to reapportion the rooms till there were only 3 cadets to a room instead of 4, and after midterms, most cadets were 2 to a room. The first winter break saw him visiting his Grandmother and sister, who was now living there and attending UC. It had been some time since he had seen his sister, and though it was a bit awkward, soon they were again getting comfortable with one another, well as much as siblings with 8 years between them could. It's hard to see someone as an adult when you've changed their nappies. All too soon the break for him was over, and after promises to write, He returned to the academy.

His second semester went well, though the time spent with hisb sister made him more aware of how young some of the other cadets were. Such was the lot of Doctors, some counselors and Engineers. Most of the other callings went directly to the academy with little in the way of training to their professions. He was starting to feel stifled and trapped because of all of the schooling he'd endured, but he knew that he would be the better for it. He only had one year left before he would be assigned to a post, thanks to the ROTC training through 8 years of college. In fact he would be aboard ship much sooner. With summer fast approaching, he was looking forward to spending time with his grandmother and sister, but that was not meant to be. His choice was taken from him by the Dominion war.

It was a mad scramble, cadets were assigned to ships almost unilaterally, some were formerly decommissioned ships hastily resupplied. others were rag-tag ships forced out of dry-dock well ahead of schedule, with engineers working on finishing them while en-route to the front. If it could shoot or haul supplies, it was going. Evander was assigned to the USS Ramses assigned the temporary rank of acting Ensign and the position of Counselor. It was perhaps the darkest time of his life, that year of hell. and when it was over, he nearly resigned his commission. but he was never a quitter. He returned to the Academy to finish out his final year and was assigned to the USS Kepler upon his graduation.
