| Personal History | 2368: Daniel is born on board the USS Shakespeare. His father is the commanding officer of the Shakespeare, Captain William Sutherland. 2372: As hostilities grow between the Federation and the Dominion, Daniel is relocated to Earth to live with his maternal grandparents in Essex, United Kingdom. 2375: Following the conclusion of the Dominion War, Daniel rejoins his parents on board the USS Shakespeare. 2378: Daniel’s half-brother, Captain Paul Sutherland, is killed when his ship (the USS Venture) is destroyed during a battle with the Romulans along the Neutral Zone. 2379: William Sutherland, struggling with the death of his eldest son, resigns his Starfleet commission and returns to Earth along with Rachel and Daniel. They relocate to London, United Kingdom. 2381: William Sutherland returns to Starfleet active duty with a position at Starfleet Command. He is quickly promoted to Admiral. 2385: Daniel spends a year studying at the Vulcan Science Academy. He studies Alien Anthropology. 2386: Daniel works as an aide within the Office of the President of the United Federation of Planets. It is here that Daniel meets Ambassador Elesa Zal for the first time, a close friend and former commanding officer of his late brother Paul. Zal convinces Daniel that he would have a promising career as a diplomat and provides him with a letter of recommendation for joining the diplomatic corps. 2387: Daniel resigns from his post at the Office of the President and joins the diplomatic corps. 2387: Daniel joins the Federation Diplomatic Corps training programme. 2389: Elesa Zal requests Daniel to be her intern while she is positioned as the Federation Ambassador to the Gorn Confederacy. 2390: Daniel graduates from the Diplomatic Corps training scheme. He rejoins Elesa Zal as her personal Attaché. Ambassador Zal then requests that Daniel remain on board the USS Redemption as a diplomatic attaché. Following the presumed destruction of the Redemption, Daniel returns to Earth to rejoin Ambassador Zal’s team. 2391: Ambassador Zal is made the interim Federation President, and Daniel joins her as a member of her presidential team. |
