Remembering the lost

Mission: Errand of Mercy
Location: Captain's Quarters
Timeline: ED 1

Azura sat in his quarters, the lights off as the blue marble of Earth floated behind him. His mind was undulating in its attempt to process what had happened in the last six months. His breathing was deep and slow as he surffed the waves of his mind.

The Redemption had been seized, upgraded, recaptured and then torn appart and put back together by Star Fleet Engineering Corps. They had been looking for any backdoor, trap, tracking device, or sabotage that the sixth fleet might have hidden on the ship incase it was taken back. A slight smile flicked at his lips as he remembered a certain Corp Engineer cussing at the AI which was activated by the sixth fleet. The image of the goddess Pallas Athena had been standing behind the Engineer explaining what she had observed the sixth fleet doing to the ship since they had activated her. That had been a common occurance since the men and women in gold had boarded his ship.

A chime sounded from his door, letting him know someone wanted to enter. His eye cracked , he called out "Come." and pulled his mind out of its introspection. He opened his eyes and rolled his shoulders as the dorrs opened. He saw the tall, graceful frame of Fleet Admiral Sho'Thor enter with the golden piping of his uniform glinting in the light reflected through the windows by Earth.

"Computer, lights to normal level." Azura said softly as he stood to greet his great uncle. The lights came up and he nodded to Thor.

"Admiral."

"Captain."

"Can I offer you some water sir?" Azura asked remembering his Vulcan manners.

Thor shook his head. "No, thank you. I've come to see how your settling in as well as check on Savannah. I hear the ship is almost ready to depart. "

Azura nodded "Aye sir it is. A few more crew are waiting to be onboarded but for the most part we're ready."

Thor nodded tightly "Good, Nathan had heard rumblings and fears something is brewing on the horizon but dosent know yet what it is."

"Give us a few more days and we will be ready to sell into that storm, what ever it may be sir. " Azura replied then continued "Lucy has requested to be transferred back to Star Fleet Medical, she said it is to much for her being on the ship."

Azura thought of how many others had requested transfers from his old crew. How he would have a new set of officers to get used to and learn but took solace in the fact that Rhyan and Keisha were still with him. Even if the later had traded her teal uniform for green.

"Also sir I think you should consider promoting Rhyan. As my XO he's had to deal with more than most Captains and he deserves it." It was Thor who raised an eyebrow at that. He didn't respond but grunted.

"He disobeyed orders, broke protocol and failed lost the ship. "

Azura interupted "Yes but you and I both know that in a few months time youll be making Captains out of commanders that show an inkling if daring. Don't let him be trapped between a peace time fleey and a war time one. We're at war and we need, I need people who are daring and think outside the box. "

Tour grunted again and turned to stare out the window. His eyes taking in the blue sphere.

"Give him the tests and see if he passes, if so I'll ok it. " Thor turned on his heels and strode to the door. "Now I'll take my leave of you and go on an inspection of the ship. "

Azura nodded "Yes sir, just watch out for Athena she can be a 'damned cantankerous A.I. according to some of the engineers. "

Your snorted at that and nodded "Understood captain."
