Alexei knew what he had to do and he was not looking forward to it. Not that he was afraid of confronting his sister - far from it in fact. He just didn't like dealing with her at all. He had told Bianca about Elva during some of their pillow talk last night, but he had never expected her to crop up any time soon, least of all today.
He decided to use Bianca's terminal because, being that she was also intelligence as well as a Starfleet Marine, the entirety of their conversation would be recorded, just as it had been when Elva had called her.
He quickly set up the call, then leaned back in the desk chair to wait until the connection was made. He also made sure that Bianca was seated next to him, close enough so that Elva would see her and there would be no question about their attraction to one another.
Finally the computer announced that the connection was secure and the standard Starfleet logo disappeared to reveal his sister. "Hello sister dear..." he said, the sarcasm indicating that he thought her anything but 'dear'. "It appears we have much to talk about..."
"I don't want to talk to you with that soulsucking bitch with you."
Bianca simply smiled and kissed Alexi softly "I will leave you to have your conversation." She rose and walked across the room, triggering he door on purpose so she thought that shed left as she lowered herself silently into the seat across from her desk.
"And THAT is exactly what we have to talk about," Alexei said, feeling his anger already beginning to rise. "Just where in the HELL do you get off talking to Bianca like that? Is this something that you were taught by that man of yours - and I use that term lightly - or is this just your general nature showing itself once again?"
"What on Earth are you talking about? I talked to her precisely as she deserved."Her nose wrinkled in distaste."Little trollop. You're much to good for her, and we do have our family status to think about."
"The way I see it is that she's too good for me and as for our family status - I don't care that much..." he said with a snap of his fingers, "...about it. Come to think of it, where was your concern for family status when you went and got yourself knocked up just so you could trap a husband? And I will thank you to remember something - Bianca does not have to satisfy any of you. not father nor mother, not our brother and especially not you! The only person that matters where her satisfying is concerned is ME! And I'll have you know she does that extremely well."
"That is disgusting. How you could even think about taking a mongrel like that into your bed. You might catch something."
"I'd watch my mouth if I were you," Alexei said. "Obviously you've been doing some research into Bianca's background, else you would not have known about the monastery. While you were prying into her previous life, did you also happen to discover that she is a multi-decorated fully trained combat Marine and can whip your ass any day of the week and twice on Sunday?" By now his anger at his sister's audacity was becoming more and more evident as he was beginning to raise his voice.
"Sleeping her way there I am sure. Women like that aren't good for anything else Alexi. You need a proper woman who will stand by you and bring our family up. Jaele Maite for example...she's still here waiting for you...". She touched on an the woman that he should be involved with.
"That's ancient history Elva and you damn well know it..." Alexei thundered. "Jaile Maite hung around like a bitch in heat because of our connections to the Third House. She would have slept with anything in pants - or a skirt either for that matter - if it would have gotten her anywhere. And I'm getting damned tired of hearing all of your name-calling and sly innuendos where Bianca is concerned." Upon reflection later, what he said next he would have preferred that Bianca hear it for the first time in a more romantic setting, but it had no less meaning. "You happen to be talking about the woman I love!"
Bianca blinked at his words, her mouth falling open at the rage in his tone that even she could hear. He loved her? He barely knew her, and that was something that tempered the girlish joy she felt in hearing the words. She kept it contained as the bitch shot back
"You can't love her Alexi- it's just lust. She can't possibly bond with you for you to know if you love her or not. I'll admit shes pretty enough to attract the eye, but all whores are like that."
"Who the hell are you to tell me whom I can and cannot love? Just because she cannot hear or receive thoughts doesn't mean she's incapable of love and it damn sure doesn't mean I can't or don't love her. I don't have to bond with her to know that I love her. Love is more than just a connection here..." he said, pointing to his head. "It's also about a connection and a feeling here as well." Saying that, he placed his hand over his heart while at the same time giving Bianca a smile over the monitor. "But that is something I would not expect you to know anything about," he continued, addressing his sister once again. "Because you are most likely the cruelest, most heartless bitch I know.!"
"How dare you! I've been married for 5 years! I have a heart, I just don't want to see this all repeat itself again!!"
"The only reason you got married is because you got knocked up and HAD to get married. Which, by the way, is he still running that rust-bucket freighter on the Vulcan to Tellar route? And still sleeping with that Orion woman he calls his first officer? Something tells me she hasn't been first Anything in years." He grinned a self-satisfied half-grin as he knew that the mention of her husband's infidelities would strike a nerve with her. 'My point is this - clean up the trash in your own yard before you even think about trying to tell me what to do. And don't worry about my heart being stomped on because I know Bianca won't do that."
"Grandmother might, you know she doesn't approve of your womanizing." she muttered lowly "Especially since..."
"You know what?" Alexei exploded. "Ask me if I give a rat's ass who approves or not. It's my life and Bianca's life and if we should choose to spend our lives together then by damn that is exactly what we will do! I am an adult and so is she and we sure as hell don't need someone, least of all you, to try and tell us how to live our lives! It's mighty nice and easy for you to sit back there on Betazed and try to tell others what to do. We're out here putting our asses on the line to keep our homeworlds and families safe and if we decide to take a little pleasure wherever we find it and with whom we find it then we deserve it, we've earned it, and by damn it's no one's business but our own! So do me a favor...sister...BUTT OUT!!!"
"YOU ARE ENGAGED YOU GIANT ASS!!" She screamed at him from the comms. Calming herself she growled "How DARE you dishonor her like that!! Grandmother and the Ambassador had you recalled so that you can't play the starcrossed lover with anyone else. You WILL fulfill your duty." And with that she reached over and ended the comm.
It had taken Bianca the whole time, to shut her mouth and resume normal train of thought. She stared at him, scrambling up from the floor. "What do you mean you're engaged?" she growled in a tone that dripped with rage. She could feel her pulse rapidly increasing as she stared at the man she'd recently shared a bed with.
"It...was arranged by my parents! I want nothing to do with that life. I love you!" Alexi stammered, but there was something gleaming deep in his eyes- triumph. He thought he had her where he wanted her, but what he got was not what he was expecting. He got instead, a wicked right hook from the decorated marine that he'd been defending mere moments ago. A satisfying crunch and spray of blood answered her as she walked out of the room.
