Night time miracles

Mission: Errand of Mercy

ON:

Azura sat in the center chair of the bridge, looking down at the planet below. He had been informed a few moments previous that the antidote developed by both science and medical departments working in unison was ready for dispursion. It had been agreed that the antidote would be vaporized into an arisol spray in concentrations high enough that detonations in the jet stream of Hadronus would be sufficent to get a 94% saturation of the planet. This would allow the antivirus to work on the majority of the population. The medical department had synthisied enough extra antivirus to be tranported down to the major cities and Hadronus CDC to allow for the quick dissimination to any inviduals not reached by the atmospheric detonations.
The bridge hummed around him as the nigh shift continued the work their day shift counterparts had begun. Azura, however, was not willing to give up the center chair just yet until he had seen the results from the missions completion.

"Captain, planetary authorities are signaling that they are ready." the Lieutenant at Ops said tapping at the console before her.

"Very well, target the coordinates and launch the modified torpedoes. Once that's done bring us over the capital and transport the antiviral's to the CDC." he felt the slight shake of the ship as the torpedoes were fired, one reddish orange ball headed to the northern most pole, one to the equator and the other to the southern most pole. As they detonated in the atmosphere their lights blazed to brightness and faded as they disbursed their cargo into the jet stream of the planet below.

"Bring up the overlay on screen showing the dispersal of the antiviral in the atmosphere." he ordered as he felt the ship accelerate to catch up to the capital city below.

A map of the planet appeared to the top right of the viewscreen and a soft ever expanding haze moved across the planet. It would take several hours for the antidote to make it across the planet but it was working it's way there. He nodded to himself as his thought processes were interrupted by the ops officer speaking up again.

"Captain, Hadronus CDC reports receipt of the antivirals, they send their regards."

He nodded "Signal our acknowledgement. Let them know we will maintain station until the antiviral has spread across the entire planet and await reports from them on any pockets of non saturation."
He pushed himself up and out of the chair to head to the turbolift, it was late and he needed rest. He would have to send a message to Admiral West after they broke orbit and headed back to Earth and cleared out from what ever it was that was jamming their communications.

"Commander you have the bridge, let me know if there is any change in the situation." he said as he moved to the turbolift. He was just happy that they had completed their mission. Now all they could do is wait for the results to come in and hopefully they could return to Earth sooner rather than later.
