912 words; about a 5 minute read

Mission: Empty Creche
Location: Kolmak's quarters
Timeline: Few days after surgery

ON:

Darkness.

Mikail thought he woke up from his bed as he tossed and turned. Then, he found himself inside the shuttlecraft. Not again. He realized he wasn't on USS Redemption. This time, he was more aware of the dream...the Hampton. Only problem is that he cannot wake up.

"Turn around and go back," he said, feeling like he could save the crew of USS Hampton. He viewed the inside of the shuttlecraft: Jordan, Victor and Thomas in their seats buckled up. John was at the control at the front and was secured by the straps in his seat. Even himself was seated with the seat straps.

The flight control officer turned around in his chair to look at him. "Are you kidding me, doctor?"

Doctor Kolmak couldn't believe he was stuck in a dream and didn't want to do this all over again. "John," he smiled at him, young as he looks, knowing that he was going to become his best friend in the future. "We are all going to die if we set foot on that planet."

"We are going to be just fine," the science officer said.

This was not the same dialog that happened in the real mission. Mikail frowned as he looked at Jordan, getting frustrated. "There are giant wasps on that planet that we are approaching to! There are half-Klingons there, too!"

"We haven't scanned for any lifeforms, yet," she said. Jordan grasp the seat straps that was holding her into place. "Relax. We have two security guys there."

"We are good security here," Victor nodded as he looked at Thomas who was chuckling.

Mikail shook his head. "No, no, no. This can't be happening. Not Emeritus again!"

"Hang tight, ladies and gentlemen!" John waved in the air. "Please be seated and stow away your instruments. We are approaching the planet".

"This is no time to joke! Go back!"

The shuttlecraft entered the atmosphere. "Too late, doctor."

The ride was bumpy as the same memory he had. Then, it took time until the sound came after the landing pads touched the ground with a thump. The seat straps were released by everybody and they stood up to either stretch and/or grab their equipment. I'm not getting off, he thought. I need to wake up.

"Release your seat strap," Jordan said. "We are going out there to scan for lifeforms and I'm going to study the planet's geology and the environment. It's breathable."

"No...no."

Victor unbuckled him and grasped his arm to pull him up gently as Thomas took his other arm. "Doctor, we need you. We will protect you."

"I rather be unconscious than to be out there."

John approached him and patted his back. "We have a mission to follow. Let's get this over with so we can get back to the ship to party."

This is not the right mission. He was flanked by the security on both sides of him. The door opened, revealing the same atmosphere, the same trees, the same dirt, and the same air. The doctor sniffed the air which brings back the same smell. The security left his sides to guard the front and back of the shuttlecraft.

"Are you sure we are in the right place?" The blonde hair and middle age woman, Jordan, asked while moving herself out of the shuttlecraft. She had her tricorder in hand, checking for any readings to the planet's geometric movements.

"No! We are not in the right place!" Mikail said, feeling the fear.

John came out and grinned. "No, Ensign Gandy. We are lost," he joked. "The computer screwed up...just kidding." He slapped Mikail's back, "Chill out, doctor."

Before he knew it, some kind of body armor came out of a belt around his waist and a suit covered his whole body like a cocoon. "What the hell?" He studied his arms and hands that had a steel metal. His face was not covered. A beeping sounded out of nowhere. "That doesn't sound good," he glanced at the sky. Emers coming.

He turned to protect his face and felt a thump behind his back a few seconds later. He quickly looked behind him to see that the stinger of one of the aliens were bent due to damage from his armor. One came to aim at him and he swung his armored arm. The Emer took a huge impact from his metal fist and it flew backwards at a long distance until it hit the ground. "What am I? Super man?"

The phasers were firing from Victor and Thomas.

John gasped at Mikail's strength. "You are one strange... Doctor Strange."

Something was flashing with the sound of klaxons going off. He jerked his eyes opened from being pulled out of the dream, finding his quarters were flashing of a warning status. Mikail felt his back and it was normal as he remembered the surgery that fixed his pain. The USS Redemption is real as he view his quarters in the flashing red light. He quickly pulled himself out of bed to get dressed. He braced himself as he felt no fear. "Doctor Strange or not, here I come to help."
