Mission: Errand of Mercy
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: ED4 1000 hours

ON

Maggie Doyl walked into sickbay to see if the doctor was available, or to set up an appointment so she could get her physical out of the way before she got too involved in the day-to-day duties on board.

"Hello," she said to the nurse on duty. "Is the doctor available? I need to get my physical."

"She is in the research center at the moment. Have a seat Lieutenant Commander and I will send someone for her." The nurse said after a brief glance at the duty board. After the last battle, Keisha had implemented the board, to know where all her personnel were while on duty so that no-one was ever missed again.

-Research Center-
"Doctor?"

"Hm?" came the noncomittal answer from the white figure behind a microscope.

"You've a patient, a routine physical."

"Very well. Keep an eye on this." The nurse took over her seat, watching the experiment as Keisha took up her jacket and headed across the room. Entering the main sickbay, Keisha pulled her green jacket on over the black tank top not before showing her extensive tattooing and scars to the crew present. Most of her staff were quite familiar with her appearance. Her snow-white skin took on an olivey tinge where the marine uniform pressed against it, a slightly disconcerting image. "Morning greetings to you commander."

"Good morning," Maggie said cheerfully.

The ghost of a smile touched her lips and vanished again as she moved towards her equipment. "Anything I should know before I start?"

"Nothing out of the ordinary," Maggie replied. "I have a very boring medical history, for which I'm grateful."

"Brilliant" she murmured as the scanner hummed over the other woman. "Any concerns you need to voice about being here? Until we have a chief counselor on board I'm the sounding board so to speak."

"Not yet, I'm still finding my way around," Maggie admitted. "Is there anything I should be particularly concerned about?"

Keisha snorted "Depends on what concerns you."

"The security of the ship and its crew," Maggie replied.

"Do I need to remind you that we're at war?" Keisha asked quietly, for the security of the entire fleet was at risk every single day both from within and without.

"No, you do not," Maggie replied. "But my particular responsibility is this ship and its crew. Others take care of the fleet, I just take care of my little part of it. If I were to spend my time worrying about things I could not control, I would be of little use here, would I not?"

"Human nature I would say." came the wry comment from the Doctor. "Our last mission we were sabotaged. I'd say that security needs some polish."

"I'm already working on that," Maggie replied. "Could you tell me a little more about how the ship was sabotaged?"

"It's a long story and I can't say that I know all of it. It's not a conversation we should have here in the open expanse of sickbay. Perhaps your office later?"

Maggie nodded. "I'd like that. Is there anything you need from me?" she asked.

"Not at the moment." Keisha's cool blue eyes warmed a little at the acceptance of the other woman. Maybe being back aboard this deathtrap of a ship wasn't going to be so bad after all.

Maggie smiled. "Okay. Then I will leave you to get back to your more important work."

"Until later"
