Mission:
Errand of Mercy
Timeline: ED3
An amalgum of Marine and starfleet. Such a ship had never before existed in the history of either fleet. That was why Bianca had been assigned to the USS Redemption. She too was a special case, holding rank in both Starfleet and the Marine Corps. Careful balance was required to keep the various commanding officers from murdering each other. It was easy for her, she had no spouse, no children and no likely prospects for either of them. Some days she wondered if she was much too dedicated to the pursuit of duty but she was the hated bureaucrat...The paper pusher that made everything work smoothly. Loyal to both sides of the coin, therefore trusted by neither. Bureaucracy at it's finest. Her job would entail getting both sides to trust her enough that they could manage. The lack of loyalty to her personally however, she understood. After all how did one obey more than one master, without having conflicts of interest?
Coughing softly to ease the rise of bile that the thought of conflicting orders brought roiling within her, she walked to the window and pressed her forehead to the cool plas-glass. She was perfect for this position too, pretty enough that people noticed, smart enough that people listened, with the good sense to keep her mouth shut when she had nothing to say. Thoughts drifting to the day she was given the assignment the words of the Major trickled back to her 'What do you have to lose Donati?' The answer was of course nothing. Nothing. Part of her desired the easy intimacy they had with their partners, but she had neither a partner, nor children nor the desire to pursue a complicated relationship. People were hard. People were confusing. Bianca often couldn't read them very well. Rules and order was what she understood, what she craved more than anything. Children though, that brought her up short sometimes...the idea of sharing your entire body of knowledge with a new being. It was appealing. The pulse of blood roaring in her ears caused shining points of light sparkle in her visual field as she strained her eyes to pick out the ship. One point stayed steady, counter to the headache she was beginning to acquire behind her eyes. It grew until it filled the whole viewscreen.
"That's a beautiful thing" Bianca whispered
"Shuttle Avacal to the Redemption- requesting permission to dock."
