Tanya removed her clothes to put on her night gown and slid herself into the bed, pulling the covers up and over her. It has worried her to get a physical exam because of her condition with a mechanical kidney. She doesn't trust a lot of people or crewmembers.
Sleep devoured her.
"Your kidney has been destroyed and you need a kidney," a medical doctor said. She felt the pain in her back where the enemy's phaser hit her in the back. She felt devastated with her only kidney. The face of the doctor faded away.
A face of a young gentleman, whom she knew as Ben Tallahese, has been sweet and friendly science enlisted. Another face of an older man, Assistant Chief of Science, by the name of Jas Pollock, sometimes serious and down-to-earth. Another face of a woman, Biologist, Don'A Kaleth, sometimes nice and almost flippant for she is an Andorian. These faces faded.
"You need a mechanical kidney," the voice in the dark said.
After her healing, she went back to working in the science department. The Biologist approached her with a strong attitude. "I heard you are useless now."
"What?"
"You heard me," Don'A rolled her eyes and moved her chin up a little higher.
"I don't know what you are talking about."
Ben came up behind the Andorian with his hand on his hip. "A mechanical kidney," he scuffed.
"How did you know?"
"The doctor is my boyfriend and he told me," Don'A said.
"What is wrong with you?"
Jas Pollock was nearby. "Everybody get back to work. You, Tanya, off-duty and suspended."
"What did I do?"
"You are a freaking robot. You don't belong here," Ben said.
Anger and hurt overtook Tanya's heart.
Faces faded.
The bridge of the Constitution appeared. She walked on the bridge and was about to chime the Captain's door until the Commander stopped her. "You need something?"
She was taken back by his attitude as if she doesn't belong. "I just need to see the Captain..."
"He's busy," he snapped.
"Why is everybody have such an attitude?" she turned and walked out. Bridge faded.
The planet appeared where their mission was to gather herbs and study plant life. Her mission was to communicate with the species on the planet. They walked around. Ben picked up a flower by the roots to get a closer look. Out of nowhere, phasers were firing and she turned to run as hard as she could. Pain shot through her back. Everything faded.
Tanya sat up gasping for air and rubbed her face with the sheets. "Just a dream." She turned over and went back to sleep.
