ON:

The doctor was relieved to have a conversation with his long time friend, John DeVorn, a flight control officer from the USS Hampton. It won't remove the guilt that the other crewmembers had died on that planet and the sadness still lingers. He cleared his mind and picked up a PADD to read the results of patients they had lately.

He stood up from his chair and left his office to find his medical technician in the open medical bay. "Reeves?"

"Yes, sir?"

"Did you handle crewmember," he paused to read the name off of the PADD. "Tran West with a minor burn?"

"Yes, sir."

"The procedure is correct, but it looks like the post-vitals was not recorded...", he looked up at the young man. "were they?"

Micheal Reeves was quiet for a few seconds to think. "I'm sorry, sir. I believe I did missed that."

Seeing that the man felt bad for the mistake. "Don't worry about it. Be sure that all post-vitals are recorded before the patients leave." He cleared the file and set the PADD on the counter next to him. "I've made mistakes before, but we all learn from them."

"Yes, sir."

Mikail watched the young man as he placed the energy coils into an instrument and turned to place it on a tray to prepare for the next patient. "So, I haven't gotten to know you better after boarding Redemption. Where are you from?"

"Earth, Anchorage, Alaska."

"Cold place. Any ambitions for your career?"

Micheal nodded, "I want to be a microbiologist or maybe a combat medic. Just need more time to decide."

"I understand. I've an open door - you can come to me if you need help with studies," he was impressed with his interest. "Mine was Xenobiology but I was stuck with emergency medicine and surgery." He noted that he was less talkative, "this is the night shift and you can be a little more at ease in here. I don't bite."

"Yes, doctor. For now, I'm learning this trade to work my way up it," looking at him. "Maybe go to officer's school."

Mikail picked up the PADD, "Good deal. When you finish up the equipment, you are welcome to study the Petri dish in medical quarantine lab 3, if you want to look at the unique virus that was brought up by the away team. Just don't forget the safety protocol."

With excitement, "Yes, sir."

"I will be in my office if you need anything," he said, heading back to his office.
