Mission: Empty Creche
Location: Inside Federation space
Timeline: ED 2

ON:

"Conn, set course 346 mark 213 on my mark......MARK" Severide ordered.

Beta section dropped suddenly exposing the dorsal section to the Bismarck, however the section was shielded by the Atonement, the Bismarck's fire inadvertently struck the Atonement.

"Match the Bismarck's maneuvers, keep the dorsal section exposed. They want to latch on, let's see them barrage their own friends." Severide smiled sadistically.

"Sir, the Polaron cannon is charged." The tactical officer reported.

The Imperium's Delta fragment stood stationary as the Atonement locked on it's tractor beams and began to pound it with every weapon it possessed. The signal went out for the fighters from the Atonement to engage the fighters that had just launched and the Archimedes was re-tasked to assist in destroy the Delta fragment as the Atonement held it fast. The reduced shielding of the Delta fragment began to show the strain of the combined firepower of the two ships. The Bismark would engage and keep the other three segments of the Imperium busy.

"Coordinate with Delta section. Alpha section set a course 219 mark 621. Delta section come about 192 mark 215. Tactical lock polaron cannon on the Atonement, maximum power and fire on my mark."

The Alpha section of the Imperium dipped abruptly, barreling towards the Delta section. Delta section lit up with a familiar glow only seconds before the Alpha section lined itself on a direct course with the sister section. "Fire." Severide ordered.

The brilliant orange beam darted towards the Atonement, striking the forward shields with a devastating force narrowly missing the Alpha section. The sheer force of the energy beam striking the Atonement, slowed the Alpha section down as the tractor beam remained locked.

"All phasers, target the Atonement's ventral shields, fire."

Numerous beams of phaser fire erupted from the Alpha section, slamming against the underbelly of the Atonement. Lights on the Atonement began to flicker as the barrage seemed to have inflicted a great amount of damage to the heavy cruiser.

----USS Atonement, Bridge----

Sokolov shook in her chair as the Polaron cannon lanced out and struck her ship. The damage had been massive as the damage report continued. She could feel the ship's power fading as the warp core scrammed to forestall a breach. She gritted her teeth and interrupted the damage report.

"Signal all ships to compile the data of this battle and launch comms probes on black out. Star Fleet needs to know what the hell happened here." he paused as she pressed the button to reach Engineering "Bridge to Engineering I need as much power as you can give me to escape pods and halt the auto shutdown of the warp core."

"Aye sir, but if we stop the shut down the core will self destruct." the engineer replied.

"I know, if we don't then that damned ship can carry the Atonement's carcass back to what ever hell hole he slithered out from. Once you have the core back online abandon ship." Sokolov said as she cut the transmission. She looked to her XO and he nodded they both knew the Atonement was not likely to escape.

"All hands this is the Captain, abandon ship, abandon ship." Sokolov's voice could be heard over the ship wide comms system. A few moments later they watched on a flickering screen as the Bismarck took a full volley of torpedoes from the combined Alpha and Delta segments of the Imperium as well as the Beta segment. It's shields flickering and going off line for just long enough for three torpedoes to pass through. They impacted the Engineering section and that ship exploded. It's shields serving to focus the explosion venting it out in a stream of hot ionized plasma that impacted the Imperium's weakened shields and damaged the other ship. A small cry of excitement escaped the lips of the crew of the Atonement before they realized their doom. The Imperium had only taken a few seconds of the plasma stream and it was continuing towards there own un-shielded ship.

-- Imperium --

"Sir, the Bismarck is destroyed and the Atonement's core is destabilizing. Somehow their tractor beam is still functioning." the tactical officer noted.

"Lock all weapons on that beam, get us loose and get us out of here. Full power to the aft and ventral shields."

The Imperium's Alpha section lit up once again as phaser fire rushed out from the hull towards the Atonement.

The Atonement's unshielded sections took massive damage from the combined focused plasma burst of the Bismark's destruction and the phaser fire from the Imperium. This resulted in a catastrophic cascading effect that plunged the warp core into a breach faster than the Captain had anticipated. As such the life boats were destroyed and the massive energy shock wave exploded outwards damaging both pieces of the Impirium and the Archimedes who's shields had been severely damaged during the battle. It's lights twinkled and then winked out as another volley of torpedoes from the Delta section of the Imperium hit home contacting the bridge and stitching their way down the length of the ship to the engineering section. It too exploded separating into two pieces that accelerated away from each other with great speed before the auxiliary power sources of the ship exploded and forced another warp core breach as the magnetic containment failed and the anti-matter made contact with the matter of the ship.

--Imperium--

"Damage report." Severide asked.

"Alpha and delta sections heavily damaged. Secondary weapons are inoperative, shields down to 46 percent." the tactical officer responded.

Severide smiled. "Considering we were hit by two warp core breaches, I'll chalk it up as a win. Commence reassembly, we'll come back to play the real game another day."
