Empty Creche

Timeline: ED 3 0945
ON:
Sarah returned to her quarters to finish settling in after meeting her new Commanding Officer. She ended up dozing for about 45 minutes after sitting on the bed for a minute and succumbing to her exhaustion. Stretching and rubbing her face to wake her self back up Sarah crawled out of her bed in her quarters which she was grateful to have to herself. She glanced out her window at the field of stars that had been her constant companion for as long as she could remember. She took a moment to fully wake up and then loaded her schematics for her experimental tech onto a PADD and tapped her commbadge.
"PALLAS. Am I correct in assuming that you do in fact have access to the ships communications channels?"
As she waited for a response from PALLAS she prepared herself for her first day actually attending to her full duties and resolved to search down the Chief Engineer who had been conspicuously absent when she had been in Engineering the last couple of days to familiarize herself with the Redemption's systems. After her morning routine she walked out of her quarters and headed to sick bay to check in with the Chief Medical Officer so that they could establish a baseline for her health with the new posting.
The woman appeared and looked at the Lieutenant "You are correct however there are still regulations that I must adhere to when utilizing external communications."
"Well, we all have to follow those regulations. Can you query the head of Starfleet Engineering and request the progress on the next generation Warp Core testing?"
Taking a moment to stretch as her door closed behind her she mentally ran through the schematics of the ship she had accessed from Starfleet Engineering and turned herself toward the nearest turbolift and then began a brisk sprint towards sickbay, arriving about ten minutes later and pausing before entering to take a deep breath.
As she walked in she held a pair of fingers to her neck to check her own pulse, feeling it elevated. She looked around, searching for CPO Grey so that she could check in.
Hank was standing at a biobed looking down at a patient when he heard the doors open. He looked over his shoulder and grinned at the woman who had just come in, a Lieutenant in either Security or Engineering judging by the uniform.
"Come in Lieutenant, please take a seat on the biobed over there and I'll be with you in just a moment." he said before he returned his attention to the man before him.
A few moments passed before he placed a PADD against the magnetic connector on the side of the biobed and headed to the Lieutenant picking up a second PADD and placing it on the edge of the biobed and producing his medical tricorder out of a deep pocket in his lab coat.
"How can I help you today Lieutenant?" Hank said in a soft and soothing voice.
Sarah met Hanks gaze for a brief moment before looking at the PADD and Tricorder.
"Mostly here so that you can get a baseline for me. I'm sure you could pull my former records from the Odyssey but as I am just transferring to the Redemption I like to ensure that a new baseline is established. I imagine I will be seeing a fair bit of you being the Assistant Chief Engineer on board... tend to lead from the front so injuries happen."
Grey snorted "That's refreshing, an Officer I dont have to track down for physicals." he looked over the readouts from the tricorder and nodded.
"I have found that you medical officers tend to treat me better if I just get everything set up without hassle. Besides, as often as I end up in sickbay its better to give you all a baseline BEFORE any issues crop up."
Hank snorted and nodded before he turned and headed down the room to the office set aside for the doctors and popped his head in. "That's smart Lieutenant. I like an officer with foresight, please excuse me while I get the doctor."
"Doc, we got a patient, new officer wanting us to get a baseline for comparison later on. You might as well knock out the physical since she's here." Hank said as he looked at the man behind the desk.
Mikail looked up at his head nurse and nodded. "Alright. Thanks, Chief." He removed himself from the chair and followed Hank out of his office with a slow ease of movement because of his back. He took a deep breath when he reached a biobed with a female on it.
"I'm Chief Medical Officer...Acting CMO and surgeon Mikail Kolmak." He took a medical tricorder off a nearby tray and continued, "and you are?" Seeing that the vitals were already completed after he opened the instrument, he nodded at Hank before he closed it and replaced it back on the tray. He decided to do the second examination using the biobed.
"Lieutenant Sarah Graesyn, Assistant Chief Engineer and head of R&D. Its good to make your aquaintance Lieutenant Kolmak. I will try not to be on one of your bio-beds too frequently"
"There are no vorries," his accent got carried away. "Sickbay is slow. So, Lieutenant, any allergies or past injuries or medical issues that I need to know about?" He motioned her to lay on her back.
"Allergic to penicillin based meds, dunno if you still use them the doc on board the Odyssey used it as a base for much of what he created. Aside from that no allergies aside from laziness and stupidity. I have had several injuries to my right shoulder and my back but Starfleet Medical works wonders."
Mikail touched a button for the bed to bring up a torso wall that came out the sides and went over the front of the patient. The scans focuses on the important internal organs, but hearing about additional information from her, he keyed in to have the biobed scanner to concentrate her back and shoulder. “It is nicely healed as I don’t see any leftover scar tissues,” he said, glancing at the read out. “I am looking at your major organs now and you must be still. It is noted of your past allergies and I need to hear it coming from you to get your baseline mental health, too.”
Sarah kept herself still as the bio bed ran its scans. "As far as mental health goes Doc I have had the occasional struggle with Depression and prior to joining Starfleet I had made two attempts on my own life but I think that I am holding it together rather well these days all things considered."
The doctor observed her face for a minute before looking at the biobed readout. “You will be ordered to see a counselor to do sessions depending on the recommendations.” The scanner beeped and he studied it. “Hmm”.
"Much the same as I did on the Odyssey doc. I have yet to meet the ships counselor but I am sure they are good at their job." She watched his face in return. "Something seems off with that look Doc."
“Did you recently had a fight with someone or had a fall? You have a minor damage to your spleen which cut off a vein, preventing a bruise from appearing to your skin. You wouldn’t have known about it. Whether you like it or not, a counselor is preferred to continue your assignment on board...it could be for short term.”
"Well, I don't know about a fight with someone... more like a fight to keep the Odyssey from going critical for two weeks after combat, I'm sure I got thrown around a few times. Fine with seeing the counselor honestly, its just one of those things."
Hank grunted as he stood behind the Doctor, waiting for further orders.
Sarah glanced at Hank before looking back to the Doctor.
"So, Doc. Do I meet specs?"
"Yes, after we fix that problem," Mikail nodded.
