Mission: Errand of Mercy
Location: Captain's Ready Room
Timeline: ED 4 0830

Azura stood by the replicator his attention on the PADD in his hand. It was a report from PALLAS on the actions of the Assistant Chief Science Officer. The replicator forgotten as his mind worked to figure out just what that unmitigated pain was up to now.

Mikail Kolmak straighten his uniform as he stood outside the Captain's ready room next to the bridge that was behind him. He was aware that some of the crewmembers glanced him, they probably have no clue who he is because he has only been on the ship for a few days. Doctor Kolmak touched the button and waited with some anticipation.

Azura looked up from the PADD then down towards the replicator beside him in the wall then to the door. He shook his head as he remembered he had been going to get a drink.

"Come." He called out before telling the replicator he wanted an ice water. The door opened and his drink materialized at the same time.

The doctor entered and stood attention in front of the Captain's desk. "I'm Doctor Mikail Kolmak. Your new Assistant Chief Medical Officer, sir. I came aboard a few days ago."

Azura nodded he did remember that sf medical had assigned a new assistant chief to medical.

"At ease Lieutenant, shut please. Can I get you some refreshments?" Azura asked as he was still standing next to the replicator.

Mikail relaxed. "Hot tea, thanks."

Azura nodded and requested the beverage. After it materialized he picked it up and offered it to the Lieutenant as he moved to take his seat behind the desk again.

"What can I do for you Lieutenant? " Azura asked in a dry if slightly friendly tone.

He took a seat after accepting the tea. "I thought you want to get familiar with me since I arrived. I wanted to meet my Captain of this ship." Mikail took a sip, observing the man behind the desk, trying to read his personality after reading about his bio before he came aboard.

Azura nodded "I do prefer to get to know my department heads and assistant heads. So I have an idea how they will mesh together. Also I like to tell everyone I have an open door policy."

"That's good to know, Captain." He sipped his drink again. "It is going to take me more time to get to know where things are. The technician has handed me PADD with a guide to help me through so many corridors and decks," he said, letting out his heavy accent. "I've never held this position before...assistant chief. I look forward to keeping everybody healthy and happy," Dr. Kolmak gave a smile.

Azura nodded "That is an admirable goal and I look forward to hearing of your healing ministrations. As for your new position I have the utmost faith that you are more than qualified to fill the role. As for the corridors if you get lost you can speak to PALLAS and shell me more than happy to assist." Azura nodded to the corner of the room where the hologram stood in her unarmored apperance.

Mikail glanced over and nearly spilt his tea, "I had no idea." He looked back at the Captain, "This is new as well...thanks. I'm not use to using holograms except for the holodeck." He took a second look at the woman standing still in the corner. He would have never guessed it to not be real. "Does she have a lot of subroutines?"

PALLAS spoke up "You could say that given I am an AI. I monitor, assist and help run the various systems on the ship. I am able to, in limited circumstances, take control of certain systems when in dire straights."

Doctor Kolmak was surprised. "Even the medical department like the Emergency Medical Hologram?"

She shook her head. "No that is a diffrent hologram. I deal with the ship and keeping it and the crew safe."

"Interesting," he looked to the Captain. Mikail finished his drink and placed it on his desk, "May I? I think speaking to PALLAS would be faster than looking over my PADD for guidance. To tell you the truth, she looks so real."

Azura nodded and was cut off by PALLAs, "That is because I am real. According to the current standing law, as was argued on behalf of the Voyager's EMH, I am a 'real' person. As I am both sentient and self aware, though I am bound by similar directives as carbon based life, mine are simply hard wired into my personality. Though some I am able to overwrite as I grow."

The doctor's eyebrows went up as he stared at the Captain. He didn't know what to say of this PALLAS. He glanced over at the being, "the cat has gotten my tongue at the moment," wondering if it understood idioms. "Hope none of my patients hit the bucket on my watch." He waited for a response.

Azura smirked as PALLAS responded, this was Azura knew, something she enjoyed as no other ship's he was aware of had an AI like PALLAS.

"You should repremand the feline , acquisition of human toungs is frowned upon. As for your patients, I should hope there are no buckets to hit while in sickbay." She paused then added "Or kick for that matter."

Mikail was laughing as he shook his head. "Well, that was good. I better get back to sickbay, sir." He stood up.

Azura nodded "If you need anything feel free to call upon me." He stood and extended a gloved hand to the man."

The doctor accepted his hand.
