Mission:
Errand of Mercy
Location: Main Sickbay
Timeline: ED 4 0900
ON:
Hank moved through sickbay replacing hypos that had been used in the previous shift. He continued to inventory the supplies as he moved. It was an old routine but one he enjoyed.
Mikail came through the doors of Main sickbay, looking for the Chief Medical Officer to introduce himself as he arrived a few days ago. Seeing the back of a man with brown hair handling with the hypos on one side of the large sickbay, he decided to go meet with him since he will probably be working with him sometime. He gave a little cough as he approached behind him, giving that sound to not frighten him.
Hank spoke before he turned as he was replacing a second hypo.
"How can I help you today?" Hank asked in his kind baritone.
He was mesmerized by how blue the man's eyes were and it gave him the feeling that the person is friendly. Maybe more than friendly. "I'm Doctor Mikail Kolmak," his relaxed accent gave away. "I am the new Assistant Chief Medical Officer and just arrived a few days ago."
"Ah! I see well its a pleasure to have you on the Redemption Doctor. I'm Chief Petty Officer Hank Grey, head nurse. It will be nice to have some help here since Lucy left."
Mikail smiled. "Thanks, Mr. Grey. I will be gladly to help out. So, who is Lucy?"
Hank smiled softly to himself and there was a hint of sadness in his eyes when he thought about his friend. "She was one of the first doctors assigned to the ship. Things went bad and it changed her unfortunately."
Hearing the sadness in his voice, he softly said, "Oh, I'm sorry to hear that."
Hank nodded "It's alright, some people arent built for the rigors of service on a ship in good times. Much less when things go bad." he took a deep breath "And things have gone bad regularly since the Redemption launched. The assassination of the President, the death of the Captain, what happened with the Romulans and then the Ee. Seems like all we do any more is run around the Federation trying to either put out fires or blow people up. With what's been happening with 6th fleet and the Confederacy well, I think we'll be needing your services more often than less." Hank stopped, looked at the man and then grinned slightly sheepishly. "Sorry for the dark cloud greeting my mind sometimes overrides my mouth. Please dont let that make you think that all there is on the ship is a bunch of jerks looking for someone to kill, quite the contrary."
"Right," he said very slowly. "I'll keep that in mind. Let's hope this ship runs smoothly with less problems." He paused to watch him with the instruments for a minute before continuing, "So, do you happen to know where I can see the Chief Medical Officer?"
Hank grinned "Ah Keisha? Yeah she should be in her office, if not there she's probably in her quarters with the baby. I'm suprised she or the Captain get any sleep with a newborn in their quarters."
"Oh, I didn't know they were married to each other. I have met the Captain earlier but not her. Sounds like they will be busy with a baby...," he said as his mind trailed off, not finishing his sentence. "Well, I have to get going to see if she is in her office. If not, I will try later. It is nice to meet you and thanks for your time. I'm sure we will meet again," he smiled.
Hank grinned widely "It was a pleasure to meet you too Lieutenant. Again welcome to the Redemption and I'm sure we will be seeing each other too. The ship's big but we're tight knit here in medical."
"Same here," Mikail said.
