Mission:
Empty Creche
Location: Counselor's Office
Timeline: ED9: (Backpost before Fix Ma Back)
ON:
The Russian doctor can control his pain, but he couldn't control his nightmares. He didn't think that a counselor could solve his problem. He has diagnosed himself with a mild PSTD way back after the away team incident on USS Hampton. He has never shared his past dream of the incident to anybody. Very little was said to his superiors about his back including Dr. Afton.
Mikail took several trips down the corridors until he stopped at a door. "Counseling Department", he read the label beside the door before he went through it. He noticed an empty desk in front of him, few chairs off to one side, another entry way to another room. He grunted, feeling as if his pride is going to be crushed, letting someone to help him with his nightmares. He picked a chair to sit down and waited.
A cheerful yeoman entered the room, probably chosen for the job specifically for that shining bubbly aspect of her personality. "Good morning sir! Do you have an appointment?"
"Morning. I guess not," feeling like he came at the wrong time if he didn't scheduled an appointment. "Maybe I should come back another time?" He stood up.
"Of course not, sit down... Give me just a moment to see whose schedule has an opening."
"Oh," Mikail sat down. Hope the counselor won't be rough with me, he thought, remembering about the profile he looked up on the Major. He didn't expect the person to be a female. The gender isn't a problem to him, knowing the fact that females are known to use drama a lot with sharp skills in thinking and males tend to solve problems right away.
"Well I see that Major General O'Brien has a clear schedule this morning. Would you like to speak to her?"
"Sure," he said.
"Great." She flipped a switch that would alert Dr. O'Brien of the new patient waiting for her.
He continued to wait, seeming to feel like a long time when it has been five minutes.
Avery pushed herself out of her chair and walked to the door of the office she was in. The counselors rotated through the offices and today she had what she liked to call the 'green room' for it was decorated in a tasteful shade of creamy ivory and green. "You here to see me?" she asked, her voice carrying easily down the corridor to Mikail
He looked straight ahead to where the voice was asking him a question. He stood up and strode towards the office she was in. "Yes," Mikail said, turning to close the door and take a seat. "I'm Lieutenant, Doctor Mikail Kolmak."
"Major General Avery O'Brien, PhD- Marines Retired, but please just call me Avery, that's an awful mouthful. Welcome Doctor. Have a seat and tell me what I can do for you." she gestured broadly towards the chair or the couch, as she settled into one next to her desk.
"Yes, ma'am...er, Avery." He decided to take the sofa that appears to be a more comfortable furniture to relax on. As soon as he sat down and crossed his left leg over his right knee, he spoke with some nervousness which isn't usual for him. "Been having nightmares of my injury. A few people know about it...", he trailed off with thoughts going back to the planet.
"Why keep it hidden?" she asked softly as her eyes slid over his body, watching the body language as a whole.
"Just embarrassing to me for others to know. I guess I'm protecting myself with my ego," he hoped that makes sense.
They continued the session for thirty minutes and Mikail left the department to his quarters. He felt like the counseling has helped him mentally but not for the pain that continues to nag him. How long is this going to last? He was told that he should continue counseling session if things do not get better with the nightmares.
