Timeline: ED 3 0800

Barron sat behind his desk going over the PADDS that seemed to never stop with reports on the war effort. Something tugged at his mind seemly on the very fringes about how the war was going. Each reports seemed to bump the clarity ever more into focus then the next day the new reports would bring it out of focus again. There was something more going on, an unseen hand.
He picked up the PADD that had a weeks old report he hadent until now had the time to look at. The after action report of the USS Odyssey, an Intrepid class long range explorer. It had come back to Earth limping after tangling with a small Underdark strike force far outside their territory. He grunted as he read the damage and was amazed that there ship had made it home. She would be in drydock for months getting rebuilt and likely refitted.
Sarah approached her new Captains ready room, straightening a crease out of the lower hem of her Dress Uniform Jacket. She hated the process of being transferred to a new ship but recognized that a transfer to the Fleet Flagship was both an honor as well as a prestigious position to hold, especially since she had been promoted from just a general Engineering Officer onboard the Odyssey to the Redemption Assistant CEO.
She sighed and then pressed the button on the door panel to alert the Captain that he had a visitor.
Barron didnt look up from the PADD as he murmured the words "Come" which unlocked the door and allowed then to swoosh open quickly. He looked up as he felt the presence of another person entering his office and put the PADD down giving the woman his undivided attention.
Sarah entered quietly, taking a deep breath to steady herself before softly clearing her throat and addressing the Captain.
"Captain, Lieutenant Sarah Graesyn reporting for duty, fresh off the USS Odyssey. I understand that I have been reassigned to the Redemption as the Assistant Chief Engineering Officer?"
Gabriel blinked and glanced down at the Odyssey's report and back up at the Lieutenant, sometimes he wondered if there wasn't some unknown power in the universe that delighted in such things. "At ease Lieutenant, please sit." He motioned to the chair across from him. "That is correct, you will also bre heading up the R&D department which falls under the ACEO's duties."
Sarah hesitantly seated herself across from him, taking a look around the room to get a feel for the man that she was going to be calling Captain for the next foreseeable chunk of the future.
"I am actually thoroughly pleased to hear about heading up R&D, can't lie about that. I have some experimental tech that helped me get the Odyssey back to Earth that I wanted to ask you about installing in the Redemption's systems... Specifically its a pair of resonance field phase modulators that will make subtle and automatic adjustments to the Structural Integrity Fields and the Shields, both containment and combat, and increase their effectiveness and resilience to Klingon.
Gabriel though about it "Run it through the Chief Engineering Officer and PALLAS before my final approval though I am interested to see how they work."
She nodded, noting the decorations and deciding that she and the Captain would get along just fine.
"Dominion War, Sir?" she probed gently.
She thought for a moment herself. "You'll have to forgive me on this one point of ignorance Sir, we did not have a PALLAS on board the Odyssey with it having been an older vessel."
"Understandable it took a bit for me to get used to her myself. Yes I was a Marine medic during the war before I went to med school and changed my greens for Star Fleet teal." He looked to the corner of there ready room and spoke "PALLAS please introduce youself to these Lieutenant."
A woman in grecian white tunic carrying a spear and round shield with a helmet perched atop her head appeared in a flash of lights.
"Good morning Lieutenant, I am PALLAS I am there Redemption's AI." Her voice was musical.
"Good morning PALLAS, you may call me Sarah. I presume you are just as much a person as I am and as such I would prefer to establish a proper Rapport with you from the get go. I presume you can also access my personal files on Starfleet servers?" She took a long look at the AI's chosen form and smiled as she was a student of Ancient Civilizations, both Terra Bound and from other places in the universe.
The holographic woman nodded "My thanks Sarah, indeed I can. I can also control most systems on the ship should the ship require it. I can, of course, send a copy of my abilities to your box."
"If you are willing to share that information I would greatly appreciate it PALLAS. If you would not mind pulling the schematics and data from the improvements made to the USS Odyssey after it's last fight and analyze it I would like to implement a more refined version of the same devices into the Redemption systems with your permission and help."
"I would be happy to, however having access to your planned refinements would speed up the process." She replied.
"I will furnish the planned refinements to you as soon as I hit the deck in Engineering, PALLAS. I have to run some calculations on my end since the Redemption has a much more powerful Reactor and other systems."
"I'll double check your calculations and help scale up your plans to most efficiently incorporate them into the Redemption." PALLAS looked off into the middle distance as she went over the Odyssey's after a ton report and the schematics for the system they had used tp survive. "I see, I will start running simulations and let you know of any issues I notice from the model Redemption."
Sarah watched PALLAS work for a moment then looked back to the Captain.
"I will leave you to those simulations PALLAS, please inform me when they are complete. I always carry a PADD on me so that I can work on the fly. Captain, if there is nothing further I would like to get some rest for at least tonight since I singlehandedly kept the Odyssey core from breaching for the last two weeks and haven't had much sleep. If that is permissible I will check in with sickbay so that they can get a baseline for me and then I will be on duty in the morning."
Barron nodded "That is agreeable, our Acting CMO is Dr. Mikail Kolmak, head to sickbay and talk to CPO Grey he'll get you set up and alert the Doctor. I look forward to seeing what you can pull off on the Redemption." Barron stood and offered his hand to shake after the two had clasped hands he said simply "Dissmissed." Before returning to his seat to finish the never ending reports that flowed in every day.
"I am honored to be assigned to the Redemption sir."
she paused in the doorway, glancing back.
"I have a VI that can help you with those reports if you would like it, Sir."
He grinned like a toothy shark "That's there price of sitting on the big chair Lieutenant, mind-numbing, soul crushing, life destroying paperwork. That's the only way we stay up to date on Fleet movements and the like, but I appreciate the thought. Go get some rest."
She nodded and stepped through the door, smiling for a moment before she recomposed herself and headed to sickbay.
